TCE 14.  How does Consciousness Evolution work?

As Consciousness is formless and holistic, it is a bit harder to describe the evolution process.  It becomes more complicated as the target involves Self-becoming[1]. In order to understand the Consciousness evolution process, the entire Creation is viewed from two angles: 1) from the evolving part and 2) from the target whole. Within the creation, every part is considered to have an “Individualized Consciousness[2]” (IC) that operates within a certain allocated portion of the collective whole, which is known as “Cosmic Consciousness[3]” (CC). While ICs are performing actions to evolve, CC as a collective whole provides the platform for ICs to act. This concept is very similar to the implementation of computers programming languages[4].

While each IC may potentially take millions of actions, in a myriad of lifeforms, before finally reaching the target, it is identified by the type of life-form in which its manifested expression and evolution take place. The ICs are grouped into five global-types, depending on the degree of consciousness, indicated pictorially by the number of wrappers or sheaths[5] (see Figure 1). The more the number of sheaths in an IC, the less the degree of consciousness it has. The lower IC global-type includes the sheaths of the ICs above that type, indicating the capabilities of lower global-types are included in higher ones. For e.g., the lowest type IC1, Matter, is shown in five circles with the outermost circle bolded with other four circles included within. This indicates that the properties of Matter will be included and added with additional capabilities in higher types, such as Life-force type plants (IC2) and Intellect type humans (IC4).

The Matter (IC1) is the lowest IC global-type and includes all non-living metals, molecules, minerals, solid, liquid, gases, etc. and also include the natural forces that control the properties of matter, such as electromagnetic, mechanics, gravitational force, etc.  The term “Material Forces” is used to refer these set of forces, in order to contrast with “Life Force”. Although this IC1 type does not evolve by itself like other higher global-types, it gets included as the material composition for the life-forms to express, perform actions, and evolve in creation. The Matter is given a “consciousness” global-type in this model, since it affects the evolution of the higher IC global-types due to the interactions with Matter and also, this concept is useful for understanding the man-made machines in a holistic view[6].

The Life-force (IC2) is the next IC global-type and the first self-evolving type. This global-type covers starting single-cell life-forms to all plant types where the senses have not been developed beyond “touch” capability, which is used to interact with its environment. Life-force characteristics manifest in all of the higher global-types than this type.

The next higher IC global-type is Sensory (IC3). This global-type covers starting with everything above Life-force type, all kinds the animals up to but below human beings. This type specializes in senses where the instinctive response is predominant.

These two, Life-Force and Sensory types, have under-developed will (choice-making) capability that is basically guided by the environment and sense-instincts (termed as “auto-programmed will” or “guided will” in contrast with “free-will” in humans) and the consciousness evolves in these lifeforms in an ordained manner, unless fettered by higher type human-being.

The next one is the Intellect (IC4) type, a challenging type: human beings! As noted before, the special Consciousness capabilities, in particular, the free-will (or “self-programmable will” or free choice making) makes the evolution no longer upward. It can remain in the same type, perpetually, indicated by the circular arrow in the picture. While it has an advantage of evolving upward quickly, it also has the chance to act as low as IC3 type, due to undue degradation in the consciousness. More about will be discussed in a later section[7].

The topmost IC global-type Blissful (IC5) is also in humans. In this type, the noble, selfless leaders, saints, etc. are covered who feel one with the large body of people as their own and work to help alleviate their problems. In this type, one can remain in type perpetually or, as an exception, downgrade to Intellect (IC4) type. The upward ascent from here will be to reach the ultimate target of becoming one with Cosmic Consciousness (CC).

TCE 14. அறிவுணர்வின் பரிணாம வளர்ச்சி எப்படி நடைபெறுகிறது?

அரூபமான, பகுக்க முடியாத உணர்வைப் பற்றி விளக்குவது சற்றுக் கடினமானது. அத்துடன், அறிவுணர்வு வளர்ச்சியில் தன்னிலை உருமாறுதல் (self-becoming) ஒரு முக்கிய அங்கமாக இருப்பதால், இதை புரிந்து கொள்வது சற்று சிரமமாக இருக்கும். இருந்த போதிலும், விஞ்ஞான சிந்தனையால், நவீன கண்டுபிடிப்புகளால்  கிடைத்த அறிவு வளர்ச்சி, உதாரணங்கள், படங்களின் மூலம் இந்நூலில் இவ்வளர்ச்சி பற்றி விளக்கப் படுகிறது.

அறிவுணர்வு வளர்ச்சியைப் புரிந்து கொள்வதற்கு, முழுமையான பிரபஞ்சத்தை: 1. வளர்ச்சி பெறும் பகுதி (evolving part) 2. வளர்வதின் லட்சியமான தொகுதி (target collective whole) என இரு கோணங்களின் பார்வையில் இருந்து அணுக வேண்டும்.

இப்பிரஞ்சத்தில் உள்ள ஒவ்வொரு வளர்ச்சி பெறும் பகுதியும்  'தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு' (சுருக்கமாக, IC = Individualized Conscious-Awareness) கொண்டதாகவும், அவை எல்லா பகுதிகளும் ஒன்றிய ஒரு தொகுப்பினை 'முழுப்பிரபஞ்ச உணர்வு' (சுருக்கமாக, CC = Cosmic Consciousness) கொண்டதாகவும் கருத வேண்டும். இந்த 'முழுப்பிரபஞ்ச உணர்வு' (CC) எல்லாவற்றின் 'தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு' (IC) வளர்ச்சிக்கும்  தேவையான நிலைக்களன் (platform) கொடுக்கிறது. 

இம்மாதிரி அணுகுமுறையில், சில வித்தியாசங்களுடன், கம்ப்யூட்டர், ஸ்மார்ட் போன் (mobile smartphone) போன்றவை வடிவமைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. [விசேஷ குறிப்பு: ஒரே கம்ப்யூட்டரில் அல்லது ஸ்மார்ட் போனில், (mobile smartphone) பல அப்ளிகேஷன் ப்ரோக்ராம்கள் (application programs) அந்த கம்ப்யூட்டர்  பிளாட்பாரமில் (computer platform) உள்ள பொதுவான CPU, மெமரி (memory), ஆப்பரேட்டிங் சிஸ்டம் (operating system) போன்றவற்றை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டு செயல்படுவது போல. மேலும், பிரபஞ்சத்திற்கும், கம்ப்யூட்டருக்கும் உள்ள ஒற்றுமை-வேற்றுமைகளை  அனுபந்தத்தில் (Appendix - III) காண்க.]

 தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு (IC) கொண்ட ஒரு பகுதி முடிவான லட்சியத்தை அடைய, அது கோடிக்கணக்கான படிகளில் தன் அறிவுணர்வு வளர்வதற்காக பல்வேறு  ஜீவராசிகளில் தோன்றி செயல் செய்து முன்னேறுகிறது. ஒரு தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு IC பகுதியை அடையாளம் காண, அது எந்த ஜீவராசியில் செயல்படுகிறது என்பதைப் பொறுத்து, இந்நூலில் குறிப்பீடு தரப்படுகிறது.

உலகில் உள்ள எல்லா ஜீவராசிகளையும், அவைகளின் தன்மை உணர்வு (IC) வளர்ச்சியைப் பொறுத்து ஏறுமுகமாக 5 நிலைக்கட்டங்களாய் பிரிக்கலாம். அவையாவன (பார்க்க படம் 1: அறிவுணர்வு வளர்ச்சி - Conscious-Awareness Evolution):

IC1. ஜடம் (Matter) - உ-ம். கனிமங்கள், உலோகங்கள், முதலியன

IC2. ஜீவசக்தி (Life-force) - உ-ம். நுண்ணியிர் முதலான தாவரங்கள்

IC3. புலன்மனம் (Sensory) - உ-ம். விலங்கினங்கள்

IC4. புத்தி (Intellect) - உ-ம். மனித இனம்.

IC5. ஆனந்தமயம்  (Blissful) - உ-ம். சான்றோர்

படத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு நிலைக்கட்டத்திற்கும் ஒன்று முதல் ஐந்து வரை முட்டை வடிவ வட்டங்கள் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவ்வட்டங்கள் உணர்வை மறைக்கும் 'உறை' (sheath or wrapper) எனப்படும். உணர்வினை முற்றிலும் மறைக்கும் கீழ்நிலைக் கட்டத்தில் உள்ள IC1 அதிகமான ஐந்து உறைகள் கொண்டதாயும், மேல்நிலைக் கட்டத்தில் உள்ள IC5 ஒரு உறை கொண்டதாயும் காண்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 கீழ்நிலைக்கட்டத்தில் உள்ளவை (IC1) உணர்வற்ற ஜடமாக (Matter) இருந்தாலும், அவைகளை மேல்நிலைக்கட்டத்தில் உள்ள  ஜீவராசிகள் தன்னுள் கொண்டுள்ளதால் அவற்றிற்கு 'தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு' IC குறிப்பீடு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஜடமாக இருந்த போதிலும், அவை இயற்கை ஸ்தூல சக்தியின் (Material Forces) ஒரு அறிவார்ந்த  கோட்பாட்டின் (intelligent logic) கீழ் இயங்குவதாலும் இப்படி குறிப்பீடு தரப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், இவ்வணுகு முறை கம்ப்யூட்டர் போன்ற நவீன கருவிகளின் தாக்கம், பொன் ஆபரணங்கள், மருந்து, சாராயம், முதலியன எப்படி மனித மனத்தை பாதிக்கிறது என்பதை நன்கு புரிந்து கொள்ள உதவும்.

IC2 நிலைக்கட்டத்தில் 'ஜீவசக்தி' (Life-force) கொண்டவை நுண்ணுயிர் முதல் தாவரங்கள் வரை. அவை புலன்களில் தொடு உணர்ச்சி பிரதானமாக உடையதாகவும், மற்ற புலன்கள் வளர்ச்சி அடையாமலும்  இருக்கின்றன.

IC3 நிலைக்கட்டத்தில் 'புலன்கள்' (Sensory) நன்கு வளர்ச்சி பெற்ற விலங்கின வகைகள். அவை IC2 திறன்களுடன் மற்ற ஐம்புலன்களின் வளர்ச்சியும் பெற்றதாக, புலன்களை சார்ந்து விழையும் (sensory instincts) திறனையும் கொண்டதாக உள்ளது.

இந்த IC2 மற்றும் IC3 ஜீவராசிகள்  இயற்கைக்கு மாறாக செயல்படுவதில்லை. அவைகளோடு மனித இனம் குறுக்கீடு நேரும்போது, மனிதனின் தன்மையைப் பொறுத்து அதன் செயல் சில சூழ்நிலைகளில் இயற்கையிலிருந்து சற்று மாறுபடுகிறது (உ-ம், பண்ணை மாடுகள், சர்க்கஸ் விலங்குகள்).

மனிதனுக்கு கீழ்நிலைக் கட்டத்தில் உள்ள IC2  மற்றும் IC3 ஜீவராசிகள் 'தானியங்கி-இச்சை' (auto-programmed will ) உடையவை. அது சூழ்நிலையைப் பொறுத்து, புலன்களைச் சார்ந்து பொதுவாக ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகள் இன்றி ஏறுமுகமாகவே வளர்ச்சி பெறுகின்றது.

வெகுவாக 'அறிவு' (Intellect) வளர்ச்சி பெற்ற 'தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு' (IC4) கொண்ட மனித இனத்தில், இருமுனைக் கத்தி போன்ற 'சுதந்திர இச்சை' (free-will) மற்ற IC2 மற்றும் IC3 திறன்களுடன் சேரும் போது, வளர்ச்சி பலவிதங்களில் ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளுடன் மாற்றம் அடைகிறது. இந்நிலையில் இருந்து மேலும் வளர்வுறாமல், கீழும் செல்லாமல், இரண்டும்கெட்டான் நிலையில் சுற்றிக் கொண்டு இருக்கவும் அது வழி செய்கிறது. முக்கியமான இவ்விவரங்களை அடுத்த பகுதிகளில் விரிவாகக் காணலாம்.

இதற்கு மேல் உள்ள நிலைக்கட்டத் தன்மை அறிவுணர்வு (IC5) கொண்டவர்கள் மனித இனத்தில் மேம்பட்ட சான்றோர்கள், தன்னலமற்ற தலைவர்கள் முதலியோர். அவர்களின் அறிவுணர்வு பரந்து விரிந்து, தான், தன் குடும்பம் என சுயநலம் மட்டும் கருதாது, ஒரு பெரிய மனித சமூகத்தின் நலனை தன்னலமாக அவர்கள் கருதுபவர்கள். அவர்கள் நிலை தன்னிலை கடந்து இருப்பதனால் அவர்களுக்கு 'ஆனந்த' (Blissful) அனுபவம் யதார்த்தமாய் சித்திக்கின்றது.

இப்படத்தில், IC1 முதல் IC5 கடந்து இலட்சியம் வரை, அறிவுணர்வு 'வளர்தலை'க் (Evolving) குறிக்க மேல்திசை குறியீடு (upward arrow) கொடுக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. IC4 மற்றும் IC5 -ல், சுதந்திர இச்சையின் தாக்கத்தினால் ஏற்படும் அறிவுணர்வு 'குன்றுதலை'க் (Devolving) குறிக்க கீழ்த்திசை குறியீடும் (downward arrow), ஒரே நிலையில் 'சுற்றிக் கொண்டு இருத்தலை'க் குறிக்க சுற்றுத்திசை குறியீடும் (circular arrow) கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இப்படத்தில், லட்சியத்தை அடைந்த பின் மனம் உவந்து அல்லது 'வேண்டி இறங்குதல்' (Descent) என்று குறிக்கப்பட்ட  கருத்து, இந்நூலின் கடைசிப் பகுதியில் (Section 7: Advanced Topics – TCE 34) எடுத்துரைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.

[1] This has been one of the main reasons for the contention between different religions and divisions within religions for their varying interpretations of Consciousness, in the concepts of spirituality. However, thanks to the advancements in abstract thinking and in Computer programming, now we have a better set of tools and visualizations which this book utilizes to explain the Consciousness Evolution concept.

[2] Many religions interpret it in a varied manner, in particular for humans: soul, Atma, jivatma, son of God, ego, son of man, ahamkara, etc. Not much were discussed about the lower life-forms in this context.

[3] Many religions with varying interpretations associate this concept with God, God the Father, Paramatma, Brahman (not four-headed Creator), Atma, Allah, Jehovah, Great Void, etc. There is a utility for this approach that we will discuss later in Human Evolution section.

[4] In computers programming languages (C, Java, C#, etc.), IC is like a “pointer” or “Class” of the portion of the entire addressable “memory space”, which is analogous to CC in our case.
